When it comes to makeup for portraits vs makeup for everyday wear, there is a big difference! If you are not having your makeup applied by a professional stylist here are some tips for the next best thing!
FOUNDATION
Most makeup today contains SPF, which is great! Except for when it comes to having your pictures created. The SPF can create a shine that us girls don't want there! Like at all. So choose a foundation that is SPF-free for your portrait day.
Here's a nice one that won't break the bank:
PRESSED POWDER
Translucent powders are best for photoshoots, but pigmented ones can work just as well to keep the shine down. This one from e.l.f. is only around $6.00 :)
BLUSH
All that's left for the face is a little pop of color on the cheeks! Pinks and peach look good on just about every skin tone. We like this one in matte:
e.l.f. Studio Contouring Blush and Bronzer
EYE SHADOW
When choosing eye shadow color, stay away from anything that has any sparkle or shimmer in it. Matte or satin eyeshadow in neutral colors like taupe, nude and slate can help accentuate the eyes without making them look overdone. Try this one:
MASCARA
Sometimes the studio lights or being outside in the harsh sun will cause our eyes to water. It's best to use a waterproof mascara for your session. Here's a good one!
LIPS
Here is the one place it's ok to go a little shiny! Choose a neutral gloss color in either nude or pink. This will make the lips appear full and luscious.
READY, SET, GO!
You've done all this work to your beautiful face. You want to keep it there for a while, right? Here's the best kept secret out there - SETTING SPRAY! I am so in love with this one. Seriously, I use it all the time!
L'Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Spray & Set
That's it girls! Now you're ready for your big day in front of the camera!
