Here's a question we get all the time: When should I book my senior session?
The answer: The sooner the better!
Honestly you can never book your session early enough. At our studio we book 4 to 6 months in advance, sometimes even a year in advance for prime summer & fall dates. Heads up! Most of the school holidays go first if you are hoping to not miss school :)
There are a few things to consider when scheduling your custom senior session:
-
Yearbook deadlines (these come earlier than you'd think)
-
Sports schedules (summer practices for fall sports can be crazy)
-
Graduation parties (grad announcements are usually designed in February to get them out by late March / early April)
Yearbook Deadlines
Depending on what school you attend and whether or not you are planning to purchase a yearbook ad, the deadline could be as early as September. I know it is super early at Forsyth County High School Schools. This makes it even more important to book a spring (yes, while they are still juniors) or an early summer session!
Fall Sports
If you plan fall sports with heavy summer practice schedules you may want to consider booking your session even before junior year is over. Senior sessions in April and May are awesome! The weather is so nice!! And you will be able to check this senior year to do off your list early. Our senior mamas who book these spring sessions tell me over and over again how glad they were to do it even if it was a little early because they got to relax and enjoy senior year with their kiddo.
Graduation Announcements
Now, if you want to wait until the spring of your senior year please keep in mind that you may want to send out graduation announcements in late March / early April. It's doable but can be stressful. Just keeping it real with you guys! Coming from a mom who has gone through senior year and one who has seen soooo many other moms come through our studio doors . . . . you DO NOT want to wait until the last minute to book your session and have announcements designed on time to send out :)
